"In 2011 I converted my studio/workshop into an occasional exhibition space and began holding shows of my sculptures and drawings to test how they looked in a clutter-free space. My originaI intention was to use the studio as a place to photograph my work and to invite friends and fellow artists to come and have a look and share ideas and opinions.
I began holding about three shows a year - not as a commercial venture but just for the pleasure of spending time in my studio surrounded by the work of other artists that I knew and admired. Increased
publicity and a growing interest in the gallery led me to start publishing catalogues as a way of recording some of the shows.
The Shed is a very small and very modest space but I have been amazed at the response to some of the shows - our most successful in terms of numbers had over 200 people visit us. Openings have been popular and a great opportunity to have a glass of wine and a chat, not quite a soiree but getting there".
